Interconnection of The Hawaiian Silversword & Mayan Daykeeper Ahaw

The Hawaiian Silversword holds the energy of Ahaw ~ The essence of Ahaw is completion, culmination, realization, integration.  (Full info at bottom of post)

So I was musing on which plant would hold the energy of Ahaw, when I got an intuitive hit … plants that live on volcanoes. Volcanos are a great mirror for the cycles of life, bringing death and destruction and then being fertile ground for new growth. So I Googled and the first thing that popped up was this beautiful Silversword. A perfect pick as I liked the symbolism of it’s round shape,  it also blooms once and then dies (completion).  My medicine name Fire-River Heart was an image of a lava flow with heart shaped rocks flowing down it, which I have no idea why I thought that had any relevance, but there you have it.  I think all in all a perfect Ahaw energy. On arkive.org there is some more info on this unique plant.  There seem to be a numerous different silverswords. Here’s a video by Stairs and Sparks on the Mauna Kea Silversword and Trails of freedom bring us the Haleakala Silversword

Tomorrow we start a new cycle. I am letting go of the Mayan Daykeepers as a basis for my posts and moving forward. I am going to pull a major arcana tarot card every day and post a photo of something that resonates as a mirror for that card. I will leave you in your circle, to interpret what the photo’s message is for you each day.  I searched for a copyright free tarot that I found beautiful to post, but alas I did not succeed. This is more creative anyway, let’s have fun with tarot. See what your intuitive messages are. (I will leave the Daily Daykeeper at the bottom of each post as per usual.)

Mayan Daykeeper Ahaw ~ The essence of Ahaw is completion, culmination, realization, integration.

Ahaw may be experienced as a sense of completion.
This experience may include understanding
the causes and effects that led to this moment.
Ahaw offers the awareness of how completion
relates to the entire cycle of life.

Ahaw’s days are opportunities to see situations
as they fit into the bigger picture.
It is a good time to consider the necessity of certain events
and their involvement in something larger than their immediate effects.

People born on a Ahaw day are sensitive to the cycles of time
and respect the importance of being timely.
They naturally accept that everything plays a part
in something greater than itself.

Of all the seasons spring brings our attention to the plant world the most, from my perspective. So for this 20 day cycle I’m going to find a plant, tree, herb, etc that illuminates or holds the energy of the daily Daykeeper. Let’s explore together.

Mayan Daykeeper Kawak ~ The essence of Kawak is immediate transformation. No heads up, sometimes a change that we don’t even notice happening, it just all of a sudden has happened.

You may experience Kawak
as an immediate shift in consciousness,
a powerful force or a loud violent noise.

On a day with Kawak as Daykeeper,
you are invited to acknowledge and respect life’s mysteries and
all that is beyond your power and control

Those born on a Kawak day
feel a part of something that is beyond normal consciousness.
Their deepest motivations often remain a mystery even to themselves.

Semelparity: It is when an organism only reproduces once, then dies. Kurunji (Strobilanthes lanatus) is such a plant. It lives for 13 years then the entire species produces flowers than masses of seeds and dies worldwide. This was a new one to me. Isn’t the world just a never ending opportunity for surprises, I love that. So from the website stuff an article written by Russell Fransham.

Of all the seasons spring brings our attention to the plant world the most, from my perspective. So for this 20 day cycle I’m going to find a plant, tree, herb, etc that illuminates or holds the energy of the daily Daykeeper. Let’s explore together.

Mayan Daykeeper Etz’nab ~ The essence of Etz’nab is letting go. Releasing what needs to go in order to birth something new. Sometimes this will be dramatic other times gentle, either way change is the order of the day.

When present, Etz’Nab may stimulate
a powerful awakening to anger and the need for change.
It can appear as rage or the destruction of an old form.
Through sudden events and changes,
Etz’nab may provoke you to be more present in the moment.

Etz’nab days provide an opportunity to detach from
obsolete motivations and future expectations.
You may want to voluntarily arrive in the present moment.
Recognize that when someone or something outside you
appears to interrupt you by demanding your attention,
you are being invited into the moment.

Those born with Etz’nab as their Daykeeper
are people who recognize and express the need for change.
Their actions often challenge the status quo and
can create change for themselves and others.

Well heck this challenging. Okay I’m going with plants ability to consciously do things. A ‘Nature’ documentary video ‘How Plants Communicate‘, has much to share on plants abilities to do things consciously.  Some of the video touches on things I have already touched on in previous posts, but there’s lots of new interesting (well from my point of view anyway) information on them that I find fascinating. The part where they get into plant intelligence starts at 13 mins 30 secs. Get a’cuppa …… settle in and have your mind blown by how many similarities there are in plant and animal behaviour.

Mayan Daykeeper Kaban ~ Kaban’s essence is the human mind, it’s processes & abilities. Plasticity, the positive & negative effects of thought, computational ability.

Kaban may be experienced as mental cleansing,
possibly mental clarity, and, often, mental overwhelm.
On a Kaban day, you may clear your mind
by watching the movement and content of your thinking
without attachment or judgement.
This will enable you to think more clearly
and focus your thoughts on a higher level of consciousness.

Those born with Kaban as their Daykeeper
tend to have unique mental abilities
with a potential to be clear thinkers.
Those talents can be used to access higher levels of consciousness
and effectively resolve conflicts and complex problems.

Of all the seasons spring brings our attention to the plant world the most, from my perspective. So for this 20 day cycle I’m going to find a plant, tree, herb, etc that illuminates or holds the energy of the daily Daykeeper. Let’s explore together.

Mayan Daykeeper Kib ~ Kib’s essence is solitude.

You may experience Kib as the need for solitude or the desire for separation.
Being alone is often necessary to unwind
from intimate or entangled interactions with others.
Kib’s gifts are given to those that can be alone with themselves.

On a day with Kib as Daykeeper,
you may want to find time to be by yourself
or focus on what you can do by yourself alone.
It is an opportune time to separate yourself
from people and things that no longer serve your current needs.
You may feel much better after bringing certain things to a final conclusion.

People born on a Kib day often experience
their most profound revelations in solitude and usually work best alone.
Even in the presence of others
they are able to maintain an independent awareness of self.

Parasitic plants absolutely have the ability to envision, focus and manifest an abundant life. They know what they need and go after it. Pholisma culiacana is a parasitic plant from the Sonora Dessert.

From 2.palomar.edu website (which has interesting info on many plants of the region) – One of the most interesting of all dune plants, and certainly one of the most bizarre wildflowers in North America is “sand food” (Pholisma sonorae). This amazing parasitic flowering plant grows in the Algodones Dunes of southeastern California and adjacent Arizona, and in the sand dunes of El Gran Desierto in Sonora, Mexico (north of Bahia Adair in the Gulf of California). Within this area, the plants grow on sand dunes produced by wind transport of sand from the beaches of ancient Lake Cahuilla and the Colorado River delta. Another unusual species of sand food (Pholisma culiacana) is endemic to rocky, subtropical thorn scrub 500 miles (800 km) south in Sinaloa, Mexico. The disjunct distribution of these two species may be explained by plate tectonics. Floras west of the San Andreas fault and Gulf rift, in southern California and Baja California, have been displaced northward at least 500 km since the Miocene epoch (about 30 million years ago). Assuming that P. culiacana is more like the tropical progenitor of both species, P. sonorae could have diverged into a more xeric (drought resistant) species west of the San Andreas fault as peninsular California moved northward. Present day populations of P. sonorae east of the fault could have migrated there by shifting sand dunes in the region.

And if you go out in our woods in the Pacific Northwest you might if you’re lucky see a holoparasitic plant called a Northern Groundcone – here’s some info from Wiki

Mayan Daykeeper Ben ~ The essence of Ben is our connection to our ancestral lines. Ben is that feeling of family, the warm cozy one. I know that is not true for all of you, however families are created in many ways, through blood, through choice, through friendship.  In all cases you have an opportunity to learn from your interactions with your families.  Ben holds the energy of interdependent family relationships not co-dependent ones.

Ben expresses in the human experience as
the awareness of family, including both ancestors and
the future potential of the family.

On a Ben day, there may be a general focus on the family
or other dependent relationships.
You may feel more intimate with others around you.
Be careful not to engage those close to you in obsolete family patterns.

Those born with Ben as their Daykeeper
are often responsible and devoted family members.

I have the joy of working in many gardens. Each one different, each an imaginative blending of human creator(s) and plant creators. I know the humans get enjoyment from this. Do the plants? What I do know from working with the plants, is that they let us know in no uncertain terms if they like where they are and who they are sharing a bed with (pun intended), they do get all glowy and happy when I clean them and their environment up. So perhaps they do get enjoyment out of being in the garden they are in. Here is a part of one of the most beautiful gardens I work in. What an abundance of beauty, I am grateful.

Those born on a Lamat day may experience
a new potential within themselves.
It is an ability that appears to be unique
or different from that of family members, friends or associates

Interconnection of the Acacia Tree & Mayan Daykeeper Manik

The Acacia Tree ~ Holding the essence of Manik ~ The connections between actions in the now affecting the future. The evolution & growth towards something greater. (Full info at bottom of post)

Acacia trees when faced with detrimental numbers of kudu eating them, increase the tannin-C levels in their leaves to toxic proportions. In normal proportions tannin-C does no harm kudu, however when increased to a certain level, tannin-C sets of a lethal metabolic chain reaction in the kudu. The acacia continues to keep tannin leaves above normal, killing off kudu until the numbers are reduced to a percentage that will no longer put the acacia trees in that area at risk of extinction. They also telegraph the threat risk to other acacia in the area via emitting ethylene into the air which can travel up to 50 yards. This was discovered on farms where kudu were kept as a business fenced in. I wonder if this was an adaptation to address this unusual threat, due to kudu acacia, manik, evolution, growth, future, powerful, potential, accomplishment, healingthroughceremony.com, michele fire-River Heartnumbers, or if this has always been a strategy of the acacia?

Now this is not the only defence mechanism acacia trees have. The Acacia drepanolobium also have a symbiotic relationship with a certain variety of biting ant called the Crematogaster. For millennia the ants have warded off giraffe and elephants from grazing on the acacia, by swarming them and biting the huge herbivores. The acacia in return provides the ants  with swollen thorns, which serve as nesting sites; and nectar, which the ants collect from the bases of Acacia leaves. For more on this story go to BBC news website. Here’s a video by Janet Davis on YouTube

Wow, now those are actions that directly affect the future of the acacias.

Of all the seasons spring brings our attention to the plant world the most, from my perspective. So for this 20 day cycle I’m going to find a plant, tree, herb, etc that illuminates or holds the energy of the daily Daykeeper. Let’s explore together.

Mayan Daykeeper Chik’chan ~ The essence of Chik’chan is primal nature in all it’s naturalness. Simple instinct & knowing, when being in alignment with our true nature.

Chik’chan’s prescence may be experienced as a sensitivity to nature in its simplicity.
With this comes an ability to correct what has been altered from its natural state.
This is done to return to a relaxed state of being.
Your conscious awareness is then clear and uncomplicated.
Chik’chan days are good for accessing the deeper instincts of human nature.
Try doing something with your eyes closed or in the dark.
Distinguish between the fears that genuinely warn you of danger and those that complicate your life and keep you from trusting your true desires.

Those born with Chik’chan as their Daykeeper have a sensitivity to the simplicity within all things. They possess the ability to realign with the natural flow.
This can be done for themselves as well as for others.
They have the potential to be a healer when this ability is trusted and developed.

Of all the seasons spring brings our attention to the plant world the most, from my perspective. So for this 20 day cycle I’m going to find a plant, tree, herb, etc that illuminates or holds the energy of the daily Daykeeper. Let’s explore together.

Mayan Daykeeper K’an ~ K’an symbolically is the seed. The source, the catalyst for something new to come into being. Within humans it is the fire, the love, the creative energy of the heart.

K’an manifests as an apparently destructive force
that eliminates or destroys what is complete.
An example of this is a burning forest that allows for new life to begin there.
K’an is also the feeding or fueling of this new life.
A K’an day is a good day to support and encourage new ideas or plans,
though they may not yet be recognized by others
and may not be ready to be acted on.

Those born on this day may carry or reflect
the potential of future accomplishments.

Interconnection of Lichens & Mayan Daykeeper Ak’bal

Lichens ~ Holding the energy of Ak’bal ~ Ak’bal’s essence is recreation, the beginning of something due to the old & the new coming together. Every moment is created by combining something from the past with something new.

Lichens have fascinated me for awhile. Living in the Pacific North-West opportunity abounds to see many wonderful species, very often on rotting logs. Here’s an excerpt from  ‘The Conversation‘ website: “There is big news in the world of lichens. These slow growing organisms have long been known to be a collaboration between a fungus and a photosynthetic algae or cyanobacteria. A recent publication in Science may have changed all that.

Researchers have discovered another fungus living in the tissues of lichens. Unlike the dominant fungal type, also known as Ascomycetes, the new fungus is a Basidiomycete that exists as single cells, more closely related to yeast. A survey has found these new fungal cells in 52 genera of lichens, raising the prospect of a previously undetected third partner in the ancient symbiosis.

Interestingly, despite many attempts, it has never been possible to synthesise lichen in the laboratory by combining the two known partners, and now we might know why. Lichenologists have always recognised a mycobiont (fungal partner) and a photobiont (the photosynthetic organism that makes food) and now we may have to find a word for the new fungal component.”

And from the website: Ourcommonroots.com an article on medicinal lichens. Below a close up shot of a log filled with lichens I found on a walk in the woods one day.

Mayan Daykeeper Ak’bal ~ Ak’bal’s essence is recreation, the beginning of something due to the old & the new coming together. Every moment is created by combining something from the past with something new.

Ak’bal manifests as a completion and the natural beginning
that immediately follows.
Ak’bal’s presence is like a mystery being revealed.
It happens only after something else, something necessary, happens first.
Ak’bal guides what and when something is revealed, as it comes to light out of the darkness or from the consciousness from the unconscious.

Ak’bal’s day is for revelations and for the next generation of truths to manifest.
Be open to new messages or information appropriate for the
immediate present or future, but not for the past.

Those who are born on an Ak’bal day are dreamers and visionaries.
They desire to bring forth something new in the natural evolution
of what is becoming outdated or complete.

Mayan Daykeeper Ik ~ The essence of Ik is birthing through growth, literal & metaphorical.

Ik can manifest in the human experience as
impulses, actions or behaviors that seem
out of character or out of control.
Ik days provide an opportunity to
push beyond your accepted beliefs or those of society.

It is a day for revelations and the realization
that there is more that exists beyond the boundaries we create.
Expand your boundary voluntarily
and be open to new possibilities and unexpected opportunities.
Consider doing something different and unusual
for who you believe yourself to be.

Those born on an Ik day
bring influences from outside to their group or family
that stimulate growth in new directions.

Interconnection of Vinca Minor & Mayan Daykeeper Imix

Happy Spring Equinox everyone, the plant world is waking up whoo hoo!

Mayan Daykeeper Imix has brought us back to the beginning of a new cycle of 20 days. SPRING Equinox the season of new growth. Of all the seasons spring brings our attention to the plant world the most, from my perspective. So for the next 20 days I’m going to find a plant, tree, herb, etc that illuminates or holds the energy of the daily Daykeeper. Let’s explore together.

Vinca Minor ~ Holds the energy of Imix ~ The start of one dividing into many & yet still being part of the one.

Vinca Minor reproduces itself by sending out a long segmented stem and a new stem with leaves and flowers will grow from each segment. Hence it’s ability to reproduce at an astounding rate, creating either delight or exasperation to many a gardener. It is also known as periwinkle, running-myrtle, blue buttons, devil’s eye, joy on the ground and sorcerer’s violet.

Mayan Daykeeper Imix: The essence of Imix is the beginning of a cycle. The start of one dividing into many & yet still being part of the one. Imix is the one.

Imix often manifests in human reality as the ability
to remain in the present moment without concern for the past and future.
It can be recognized as a clear link to that which lies beyond the mundane.
Imix offers the ability to transcend time
and to refrain from having time oriented desires.

On a Imix day you may want to be less structured.
Make time for yourself that is free from previous commitments and obligations.
This is an opportune day to discover from within
what you truly want and where you truly want to go in your life.
It is a day to acknowledge that which lies beyond time.

People who are born on a Imix day are often dreamers
that lack the desire to succeed in more materialistic accomplishments.
They often come up with new ideas that others bring to manifestation.
