Sturgeon Birth Totem Animal ~ Today’s Daykeeper is Etz’nab

Sturgeon Birth Animal Totem: July 23 – Aug 22

The sturgeon is the oldest of all fish with evidence of its existence dating back to the times of the dinosaur. Depending on the species, sturgeons are found in both fresh and salt-water habitats, in the northern temperate zones across all continents of the globe. They live in deep water most of the time, coming into steams or shallow water only to spawn. Spawning does not happen every year. It is a bottom feeder living on the various forms of plant life found there.

The native people treated the sturgeon with great respect. They saw the sturgeon representing depth, strength and knowledge. The sturgeon is known as the keeper of Old Age

Sturgeon teaches about:
~ Longevity
~ As a being of the water element, it helps cleanse deep emotional pattern
~ It shows that deep feelings and inner strength are a gift of living in balance and harmony
~ Sturgeons are doer’s
~ They deal excellently with difficulties
~ They engage with the impossible making it possible
~ They are versatile and do what they do well
~ They create sweeping changes when necessary
~ They appear to be one way on the outside tough and a little prickly when really under the surface they are softhearted
~ They can also be the other way softhearted on the surface and prickly underneath
~ They are sensitive and perceptive yet they project themselves as someone who is regal, independent and powerful
~ They tend to hide their inner pain and worry yet are sensitive and aware of others pain
~ They can be revengeful to those who have hurt them

BIRTH ANIMALS:
~ Help you walk in balance
~ Shows you your heart capacity for love, the nature of your heart
~ How to express emotions and feel them
~ Helps you to be in the present moment emotionally, so you are present and not in past history

When we walk in balance we are connected to reality, the present moment. When out of balance we are in our personal history, living in the past or fantasizing about the future

As irritating as I find this the best site with info I found was on Totalfisherman.com so to balance things out here’s a link to the World Wide Fund for Nature, as some sturgeon are an endangered species. There are numerous sites with info on sturgeon, but they tend to focus on one species in particular. I imagine due to the fact that this fish is hunted all over the world.

They give you advice when asked for, and answer questions you have. They can support you when you’re scared, help empower you, clarify things, show you the next step in your healing journey, walk with you as a trusted companion and more. Well I don’t think it matters one iota if they are or aren’t, what you imagine you create. Whatever you believe and experience is your truth. It is the wisdom & knowledge you get from them that matters, not whether you believe that it’s an animal spirit or a part of your own psyche.

Mayan Daykeeper Etz’nab ~ The essence of Etz’nab is letting go. Releasing what needs to go in order to birth something new. Sometimes this will be dramatic other times gentle, either way change is the order of the day.

When present, Etz’Nab may stimulate
a powerful awakening to anger and the need for change.
It can appear as rage or the destruction of an old form.
Through sudden events and changes,
Etz’nab may provoke you to be more present in the moment.

Etz’nab days provide an opportunity to detach from
obsolete motivations and future expectations.
You may want to voluntarily arrive in the present moment.
Recognize that when someone or something outside you
appears to interrupt you by demanding your attention,
you are being invited into the moment.

Those born with Etz’nab as their Daykeeper
are people who recognize and express the need for change.
Their actions often challenge the status quo and
can create change for themselves and others.

Mayan Daykeeper Kaban ~ Kaban’s essence is the human mind, it’s processes & abilities. Plasticity, the positive & negative effects of thought, computational ability.

Kaban may be experienced as mental cleansing,
possibly mental clarity, and, often, mental overwhelm.
On a Kaban day, you may clear your mind
by watching the movement and content of your thinking
without attachment or judgement.
This will enable you to think more clearly
and focus your thoughts on a higher level of consciousness.

Those born with Kaban as their Daykeeper

with a potential to be clear thinkers.
Those talents can be used to access higher levels of consciousness
and effectively resolve conflicts and complex problems.

Flicker Birth Animal Totem~ Today’s Daykeeper Kib

Flicker Birth Animal Totem:  June 21 – July 22

A member of the woodpecker family flicker is often called the “little awakener” as it taps and drums in its search for food. It lives in a variety of woodland habitats, makes its nests in holes in dead trees and is very particular about the cleanliness of its home. Its feet are different than most birds having two toes in front and two in the back, which allows it to balance and move up and down on the sides of trees

Flickers teach about:
~ Having the right tools for you to maintain balance
~ Awakening the knowledge you already possess and activating latent talents and intuition
~ The rhythm of their drumming can teach you to align with the heart beat of nature and is a reminder that you have the ability to connect with realms other than physical
~ Flickers also help you to connect with the ancestors and the little people with their rhythmic tapping and drumming, and show you how to stay in balance and move with confidence when new rhythms are developing in your life
~ Flicker people are home oriented and are excellent in emergencies
~ They are loving, solid and stable yet have a wild quality about them and love natural settings

~ Flickers also like to be with others in their mystical pursuits and they devote themselves fully
~ They not only desire a family but a like-minded spiritual family they can be of service to

Mayan Daykeeper Kib ~ Kib’s essence is solitude.

You may experience Kib as the need for solitude or the desire for separation.
Being alone is often necessary to unwind
from intimate or entangled interactions with others.
Kib’s gifts are given to those that can be alone with themselves.

On a day with Kib as Daykeeper,
you may want to find time to be by yourself
or focus on what you can do by yourself alone.
It is an opportune time to separate yourself
from people and things that no longer serve your current needs.
You may feel much better after bringing certain things to a final conclusion.

People born on a Kib day often experience
their most profound revelations in solitude and usually work best alone.
Even in the presence of others
they are able to maintain an independent awareness of self.

Mayan Daykeeper Ix ~ The essence of Ix is the ability of  the spiritual realm to communicate in the physical realm. An ability to communicate in both.

Ix may manifest as an awareness of spirit

to messages from the spirit world.
It is a good day to contemplate who you are
in dimensions of life other than just the material and physical.

and receive it’s communication while in the physical world.

Mayan Daykeeper Ben ~ The essence of Ben is our connection to our ancestral lines. Ben is that feeling of family, the warm cozy one. I know that is not true for all of you, however families are created in many ways, through blood, through choice, through friendship.  In all cases you have an opportunity to learn from your interactions with your families.  Ben holds the energy of interdependent family relationships not co-dependent ones.

Ben expresses in the human experience as
the awareness of family, including both ancestors and
the future potential of the family.

On a Ben day, there may be a general focus on the family
or other dependent relationships.
You may feel more intimate with others around you.
Be careful not to engage those close to you in obsolete family patterns.

are often responsible and devoted family members.

So what are Totem Animals and why would you even want one? Animal Totems are animal spirit allies, on your journey in this lifetime. They give you advice when asked for, and answer questions you have. There are 9 Animal Totems, one in the centre and 8 around your Animal Totem Medicine Wheel. Are they real animal spirits? Well I don’t think it matters one iota if they are or aren’t, what you imagine you create. Whatever you believe and experience is your truth. It is the wisdom & knowledge you get from them that matters, not whether you believe that it’s an animal spirit or a part of your own psyche.

Centre Power Animal Totem ~ Today’s Daykeeper is Imix

Mayan Daykeeper Imix has brought us back to the beginning of a new cycle of 20 days. This cycle we will be looking at animal totems. The relevant daily information on today’s Mayan Daykeeper is below todays musings.

Animal totems are numerous and varied, beliefs about how many we have and what they do, are just as varied. I will present what I have been taught and experienced. Trance drum journeys are a way to find your animal totems, be it just one or many. I facilitate drum journeys. It is the wisdom & knowledge you get from them that matters, not whether you believe that it’s an animal spirit or a part of your own psyche.

CENTER POWER ANIMAL TOTEM
This is from my perspective the most important animal totem. It is the first one you get through a Trance Drum Journey and for good reason. Your centre power animal sits in the Centre of your Animal Totem Medicine Wheel, it is the animal you are most like in this lifetime and also brings you 7 of the 8 others that sit around your wheel. The exception is your Birth Totem Animal which is given and follows the same date line as traditional astrology. i.e. all Libra’s will have the same Birth Animal Totem. I will be doing all twelve in our next 20 day cycle.

Your Centre Power Animal’s skills, gifts and abilities mirror your own, whether they are present now or not. They illuminate things that are part of your naturalness. The traits of your Power Animal can sometimes be quite surprising and may not seem like you at all. Some traits may be present in you, others may have been lost during this lifetimes journey in your quest to survive. Knowing what your naturalness is, makes all the difference. Now you get to choose whether you bring them back in or not.

For example the dolphin is my centre power animal. What are dolphins like? Community minded, playful, gregarious, co-operative, inquisitive, intelligent, very good at using the breath and more. Now at the time I found my dolphin totem I was definitely not playful, gregarious, co-operative, enjoyed community or breathed in a healthy way. What the dolphin’s naturalness taught me was that to be the best most healed self I can be, I needed to bring these things into my life. I would then become more balanced and much happier. Well 13 years later, I am still improving on some aspects of these things, and may be for awhile longer. I am however, healthier and happier, and doing the best I can as the journey continues.

I choose this photo as it reminds me of a magickal moment in time when I was swimming with dolphins underneath me.

Mayan Daykeeper Imix: The essence of Imix is the beginning of a cycle. The start of one dividing into many & yet still being part of the one. Imix is the one.

Imix often manifests in human reality as the ability
to remain in the present moment without concern for the past and future.
It can be recognized as a clear link to that which lies beyond the mundane.
Imix offers the ability to transcend time
and to refrain from having time oriented desires.

On a Imix day you may want to be less structured.
Make time for yourself that is free from previous commitments and obligations.
This is an opportune day to discover from within
what you truly want and where you truly want to go in your life.
It is a day to acknowledge that which lies beyond time.

People who are born on a Imix day are often dreamers
that lack the desire to succeed in more materialistic accomplishments.
They often come up with new ideas that others bring to manifestation.
