Self-Love: Love is

~ Speaking to myself as nicely as I do my plants

~ Knowing I am worthy of a partner, friends, family
~ Learning who I am and how I tick
~ Persistence on my healing journey
~ Having patience with myself
~ Releasing blocked energy
~ Making yummy meals for myself
~ Being gentle and kind to myself
~ Treating my body with care
~ Releasing past history
~ Not indulging in festering emotions
~ Filling my own cup first, so that I have resources for others
~ Releasing not stuffing anger
~ Not stuffing with food
~ Staying sober
~ Celebrating my successes

When I was growing up there was this lovely cartoon series created by New Zealand cartoonist Kim Casali. (Loveiscartoon.com) I remember waiting for the newspaper to see what the cartoon was that day. It is one of the few things that stuck in my memory about that time in my life. So I’m taking a leaf out of her book, sans cartoons to illuminate my thoughts about love in the upcoming blog posts. Some you may agree with some you may not, it is just my opinion, you have your own and that’s as it should be.

Here’s a link to deerworlds.com which has a plethora of info on deer. The one area not covered is that deer are not only male & female but have a range of genders. Here’s a easy to understand article on the Missouri Dept. of Conservation website around this issue.

On Gabriola we have a huge amount of deer. I wonder if the deers energy contributes to the gentleness found here, and the large quantity of healing practitioners and modalities?

Just take a look at the Gabriola Healing Arts website, a smattering of what’s offered right here. Truly remarkable for a community of just over 4000 people.

Animal totems are numerous and varied, beliefs about how many we have and what they do, are just as varied. I present what I have been taught and experienced. The 10th Imagining ~ Today’s Daykeeper is Men

On Sept 21st Mayan Daykeeper Imix brought us back to the beginning of a new cycle of 20 days. This cycle we are looking at creation through imagination. The relevant daily information on today’s Mayan Daykeeper is below todays musings.

We are creators of our lives, what we imagine we create.

We are looking at ‘The Twelve Imaginings’. The were given to Hyemeyohsts Storm by Estcheemah. She was a Zero Chief. Hyemeyohsts wrote these down in his book Lightningbolt. What is a Zero Chief? My understanding is the Zero chiefs were a secret group of people that keep the spiritual & healing knowledge of the Native Americans when it needed to go underground, to preserve it and keep it safe due to colonization. Now I could be wrong, but there it is, make of it what you will.

We will do an imagining a day for 2 days. On the third day I will add an imagining of my own. You are invited to add imaginings of your own in the comments section on any day. On the 20th day of the cycle I will list all the imaginings that have been submitted.

The 10th Imagining: I imagine that all information must be questioned by me

I invite you to sit with this imagining, and see what it means to you.

This cycle I am looking at the interconnection between The Twenty Great Teachers of Life and The Earth Count. Let’s see what their interconnection has to teach us. The relevant daily information on each energy is below todays musings.

The Interconnection of Defeat & the Collective Consciousness of all Humans ~ This interconnection speaks to how we are all linked from an energetic perspective. Ever noticed what happens in a room full of happy people when someone really angry or sad comes in? Now you may say, ‘Well yes Michele, but we can see the person and their mood expressed all over their body’. While this is true, what is also true is that if all the people were in a dark room, that angry or sad energy would still be felt, regardless of visual clues.

So how we engage with defeat also affects all those we engage with, and ripples out eventually through all of humanity. Ever experienced mob mentality? Demonstrations & sporting events are two places I have, and the energy was like a breaking wave, sweeping all in it’s path, with it. The same principle is at play there.

After a recent defeat did you notice the ripples you made?
How did that make you feel?
What did you learn?
What did you do that was positive?
What could you have done differently?

15 – The Great Teacher of Defeat
Defeat teaches us about self-discipline

So we all have defeats in life, that’s normal, it’s how we handle defeat that makes all the difference in our ability to move forward, to do something different, to learn & grow. I’m going to use addiction again as it’s what I know the most intimately. There is this false notion that addicts are weak ……. ‘Why don’t they just say no, why don’t they just use some self control, why don’t they use their willpower?’ All crap, addicts do all these things regularly, it is their constant battleground, along with the teacher of defeat? Time and time again we see addicts ‘fall of the wagon, relapse’, this is also seen as weak, yet if you are learning to ride a bike for example, there are moments when you absolutely get it, and then you fall. Do we see this as weak? No we see it as a learning curve. Sobriety is no different. How quickly you learn, depends on many factors, but one is how you handle these defeats. Do you beat yourself up, or accept that you relapsed, forgive yourself, look for the triggers and situations that were present when you relapsed, learn from that and try again. Trust me the latter although another learning curve to attain, is dramatically more effective. How about learning to drive, school, university, saying no to sugar, eating healthily, exercising regularly, being kind to yourself, I imagine many of you have had defeats in these areas & learning curves on minimizing defeat & how you handle it.

The Interconnection of Testing & The Circle of Law ~ Today’s Daykeeper is Lamat

The Interconnection of Testing and the Circle of Law (See below) ~ What you do today affects tomorrow. So what does testing, which teaches you patterns of excellence have to do with that? Testing comes in many forms. Standard tests that we all know, from education through to job performance reviews. You also test ourself every day with every choice you make, consciously or unconsciously. We know it when it’s obvious, the folks that are standing in front of the donut display and you just know they’re debating whether to ‘cheat’ today or not. (I have no personal experience with this LOL) There’s an energy there that is different than the person who has no problem with sugar addiction and is just having a donut that day. The former is being tested by themself. Oooooo I sense a lot of squirming, no judgement, we’re always doing the best we can. What happens with the choice of yes or no to the donut today, effects your tomorrow. When you say no to the donut, the next day you awake with no weight gain, no cravings for sugar, no guilt. (This is just a metaphor, some will not have gained weight, some will still have sugar cravings or guilt due to cumulative factors, let’s just stick with the metaphor). This new day, then effects the day after and so on. We all know this cycle which is why we have sayings like ‘Fell of the wagon’, ‘Getting back on the horse’, etc. So all your every day little decisions where you have a debate, are wee tests that teach you about how to attain excellence. They affect your future and how you show up in the world the next day.
8 – The Eighth Great Teacher is Testing
Testing teaches us the patterns of excellence

I imagine most people would not automatically say they enjoyed being tested.
Perhaps this is due to our experiences as children. We learn at a very young age about negative and positive feedback. What if we could turn this around, and just see testing as an opportunity for growth? No judgements from the ego, just assessment from a neutral place. You might imagine I live in fairy land, well to be honest I think that would be really cool …… but no. From experience I can assure you it is possible. I can’t say that I always have this reaction, but it is far more regular than I ever imagined it could be, and there was a time when I thought that it was not possible. My itty, bitty, shitty committee/monkey mind/internal dialogue/egoic natterings were firmly in the drivers seat, and there were no stops on the horizon. I dreaded tests of any kind.

What I now know is, that I was hooked into a pattern of pleasing others, and negating my true nature. In so doing the judgement brigade was on point. There was no space for looking at myself with kindness and understanding, my little child was dependent on my parents for sustaining her life. She chose to do whatever was necessary to maintain that support. This created a pattern of behaviour that even as an adult persisted, even though this was no longer valid. I had never healed/unlearned the pieces necessary to let this pattern of behaviour go.

Jump forward a couple of decades with years of conscious healing work done, I now quite often burst into laughter when I have been tested and not passed with flying colours. I find humour in my mistakes, and for me humour is a great grounder. Clearing the way for me to see it, as the opportunity it is. An opportunity to do things differently, to do any healing and forgiveness that is necessary, and move forward.

I wonder if scientists whose job it is to do tests regularly to find out something new, are more healed in this area than the average person. They know that failure is the norm, but persevere until they discover the correct answer. Very young children before they adapt to survive know this too, they keep trying until they walk, talk, eat, etc.. Remembering these facts has helped me quite often, when I have been back in egoic judgement in a testing situation.

With your judgement out of the way no matter where it comes from and in what form it
takes, you have an opportunity for growth and excellence. Getting things wrong to get things right is just the natural way for us to learn.

So may you perceive your mistakes, as just another opportunity to learn/heal. An opportunity to practice being ok with imperfection. An opportunity to see your humanness, and may you have the satisfaction of seeing the journey of learning/healing, and be fine with the mistakes you make along the way.

8 – The Eight ~ EIGHT is the Number for All Natural Laws and THE CIRCLE OF LAW. Mother earth sculpts the substance and body of everything that lives with her Sacred and Natural laws. The Eight guides the forming of all that is within the future, and gives us a way to Reappear each day.

The Interconnection of Honesty & the Sacred Dream of Life ~ Today’s Daykeeper is Manik

The Interconnection of Honesty and your Sacred Dream of Life ~ Why is honesty important? How do you feel when you are dishonest, and when you are dishonest (face it we all are at some point) what bothers you the most? For me it is dishonesty to myself, for when I am dishonest with another, …………….. I am actually not being myself! So hang in there don’t go to shame and blame, it is what it is, you’re doing the best in each moment even if it doesn’t look pretty.

When you are dishonest with yourself it impacts your dream of life. The dream of life is what you are creating in this lifetime. Think about who your closest friends are. What is different about your relationship with them? Often it is the fact that they know more about who you are and still want to be your friend, warts and all. The fact that you can be present in the relationship and not be dishonest, changes dramatically how you experience the relationship, and that feeling affects all aspects of your life. Now one addendum, if honesty is going to put you at risk, e.g. you have an abusive partner and need to escape. Being honest about leaving is not your safest course of action, so some discernment is required in my opinion.

So you may be thinking ‘Okay big deal honesty makes me feel better, but how does that actually change my dream of life?’ Everything is about energy, when you are dishonest you carry more baggage, which slows down your energy, keeps your mind busy with internal dialogue, distracts you from what you can do to increase the strength of your dream of life. Simply put, honesty with yourself brings freedom and allows for more time to create what you want.

7 – The Seventh Great Teacher is Honesty
Honesty teaches us about the integrity of the dream and respect for the dreamtime

So the ‘Dream and Dreamtime’ is not referring to your sleeping dreams, but rather our dream of life. What we are creating as a life in this lifetime. How honest we are with ourselves directly affects what we are creating.

I remember when I realized that I had the ability to deceive myself. It was a pivotal moment in my healing, also not a very nice one. I was horrified, how could I trust myself, knowing that I could deceive myself and not be aware of it. I have come to realize that deceiving myself was a strategy for survival at the time, not one I need now (I think……, perhaps I have a surprise in store….) What I do find useful is to use it consciously as a strategy to accomplish something I still have fear around. So if something is too big right now, I pretend there is only the present moment ……..hahahaha I just stopped and had a really good laugh, tricked again. There IS only the present moment, my fear is about smoke and mirrors, vapours, the what if, might be, could be, futurizing thoughts. A lesson my teacher gave me 8 years ago …..’Stop futurizing!’ Alright changing gears, let’s see what pearls of wisdom I have now that the illusion just blew up.

Honesty ….. has brought me freedom, yes, freedom, freedom she’s droning on again about freedom. My past history was such, that to have the freedom that has come with my healing is such a huge gift, it is drone worthy. An addicts’ first need to be met, is their addiction, everything else is secondary, a fact that still makes me uncomfortable. With
that comes deceit, manipulation, dishonesty, shame and blame, and most of that, the addict rains on themselves. So being free of that kind of weight is amazing. Honesty frees up so much energy, it’s no wonder we feel lighter, better, when we’re honest than when we’re not. All those secrets you carry have a trail of energy sucking emotions, dragging along behind them like many, many balls and chains.

I invite you to make a stick figure graphic of yourself and add a ball and chain for every secret you are carrying. What does that look like? Is there one that are you ready to let go of, and is it safe to do so? Now I’m not referring to secrets that are keeping you safe from harm, unfortunately, sometimes it is appropriate to keep a secret. I’m talking about the other ones, the ones that can be let go and your life will get infinitely better. If you choose to let go of a secret, ensure you have the appropriate supports in place. Be it a friend, teacher, coach, counsellor, doctor, psychiatrist, therapist, well you get the idea. May your secrets diminish, may your freedom increase.

7 – The Seven ~ The SEVEN is the Number of the DREAM OF LIFE
The SEVEN is the Number of the DREAM OF LIFE, for all things that are made within Beauty, or that are Broken and thrown away. We look into our Past and learn of what we have built.

So the ‘Dream and Dreamtime’ is not referring to your sleeping dreams, but rather your dream of life. What you are creating as a life in this lifetime. How honest you are with yourself directly affects what you are creating.

How does this affect your life?
Looking at past history how has honesty or dishonesty with yourself or others, shaped what you manifested in the future?
How important do you think honesty with yourself is, in creating your life?

15 – The Great Teacher of Defeat
Defeat teaches us about self-discipline

So we all have defeats in life, that’s normal, it’s how we handle defeat that makes all the difference in our ability to move forward, to do something different, to learn & grow. I’m going to use addiction again as it’s what I know the most intimately. There is this false notion that addicts are weak ……. ‘Why don’t they just say no, why don’t they just use some self control, why don’t they use their willpower?’ All crap, addicts do all these things regularly, it is their constant battleground, along with the teacher of defeat? Time and time again we see addicts ‘fall of the wagon, relapse’, this is also seen as weak, yet if you are learning to ride a bike for example, there are moments when you absolutely get it, and then you fall. Do we see this as weak? No we see it as a learning curve. Sobriety is no different. How quickly we learn, depends on many factors, but one is how we handle these defeats. Do we beat ourselves up, or accept that we relapsed, forgive ourselves, look for the triggers and situations that were present when we relapsed, learn from that and try again. Trust me the latter although another learning curve to attain, is dramatically more effective. How about learning to drive, school, university, saying no to sugar, eating healthily, exercising regularly, being kind to yourself, I imagine many of us have had defeats in these areas.

Honesty ….. has brought me freedom, yes, freedom, freedom she’s droning on again about freedom. My past history was such, that to have the freedom that has come with my healing is such a huge gift, it is drone worthy. An addicts’ first need to be met, is their addiction, everything else is secondary, a fact that still makes me uncomfortable. With that comes deceit, manipulation, dishonesty, shame and blame, and most of that, the addict rains on themselves. So being free of that kind of weight is amazing. Honesty frees up so much energy, it’s no wonder we feel lighter, better, when we’re honest than when we’re not. All those secrets you carry have a trail of energy sucking emotions, dragging along behind them like many, many balls and chains.

The essence of Men, is fundamentally having the ability to envision, focus and manifest an abundant life in all aspects.

15 – Men and 15 – Collective Consciousness of all Humans. Every thought ever imagined or acted upon by a human in the past, present or future, or within the movement of Life, exists within the Great Human Library of human imagination and Discovery. (Hyemeyohsts Storm’s Earth Count)

So how do we manifest an abundant life in all aspects, we learn from history, past, present and future. As time is a linear human construct, all our lifetimes are happening at the same time. So when you do something in this lifetime it affects all your lifetimes. Our brains can explode (metaphorically) trying to actually envision this, so don’t. Let’s just work within this lifetime. We learn from our past history and the past history of our ancestors. If we change nothing…… well rinse repeat, rinse repeat and we wonder why is this happening to me? This is why doing your healing work and changing your patterns is so important to moving forward, to manifesting something different. I get that change is uncomfortable for many of us, however it is actually the only thing we can count on. Look at nature is anything ever static? No. We are a part of nature, our naturalness is to change, it is in our resistance to change that we create dysfunction, illness and disease.

So if something is not working in your life, make a change. Don’t overwhelm yourself by making it big, start with something you know you can do, and add on from there. No. 1 get rid of ‘New Year’s Resolutions’ all they create on average is another thing to beat yourself up about, due to the fact more often than not they are such huge changes that they are not feasible. Once you have made a small change, guess what, everything has changed and all of a sudden there is another small change that you can make. Sometimes looking at the big picture is the worst thing you can do.

Addiction is like this, addicts tend to only be offered help when they are willing to quit. However it is all kinds of small successes and changes on the way to that moment that will ultimately lead an addict to the place where they are healed enough to quit. That’s why addicts rarely succeed on the first attempt at sobriety, it’s a learning/healing curve.

So give yourself a break, start small and before you know it life will have changed dramatically. You will not be the person you are today, and that new person will have the ability to make changes you never thought were possible. If you walk with persistence, patience, perseverance you will succeed. Set yourself up for success, start small.

So the dream of life is looking from the perspective of your spirit/dreamer/higher self/soul/fill in your belief. What are you creating in this lifetime using the knowledge and experience of other lifetimes. You may not consciously remember other lifetimes, but your higher self does. So by listening to your higher self & learning from your past experiences in this one, you are always at choice to choose what you create.

Men is present today (Mayan Daykeeper)

Some of the daykeeper names crack me up when looked at from our current perspective. Well welcome Men & may you bring increased zip to my manifesting today. There are a slew of books and information on manifesting, but none of it makes the slightest difference if we do not act and act consistently. My mother has a saying….. “Everything comes to he who waits, if he works like hell while he waits!” (Just ignore the sexist rhetoric, I’m quoting here.) The point being, we can’t just cross our legs meditate & be surprised when nothing manifests.

Let’s think about the science of momentum. Momentum increases if the velocity or mass increase. So thinking has a momentum, thinking & speaking increases the momentum, thinking, speaking & feeling increases the momentum, thinking, speaking, feeling & acting well now we’ve got some great momentum. Then of course we need the discipline to continue giving that manifestation desire, energy and focus or we loose momentum. This is the challenge and not easing up when things start to happen. If you stop pushing a rock before it hits the crest of a hill and rolls down ……. and then you know there’s a bottom or plateau coming, so increased energy will be needed then. Anyone that’s ever dieted knows this challenging fact. Looking at the big picture saps the life right out of me, however knowing this process and just focusing on what to do today and doing it, this I can handle. Hey look at that, my addictive past has trained me just for this. Focus folks, focus, focus, focus. Have a happy manifesting day.

Mayan Daykeeper Men

Action+intention=manifestation. Thought+emotion=manifestation. The principle of manifesting seems easy enough, and yet….. My internal beliefs & dialogues often get in the way. As I have often discovered along the way, I am not aware of some of these beliefs & underlying assumptions that I have at a fundamental level. So I have found that tools can help. One of these is a manifestation mesa/altar. Creating a mesa that embodies that which you wish to manifest, then adding a touch of alchemy & swoosh the universe starts working on this 24/7 for you. Now as with all things you need some action to actualize your intention, but this is a quick easy step. Should you wish the teaching on this please let me know. Michele

It’s a Manik day (Mayan Daykeeper)

Ceremonies have power, one ceremony I did in 2004 still helps me to this day. It created an opportunity for me to push through fear & gain power. Now if I am challenged by fear, I just remember that ceremony & it gives me what I need to release that fear & move forward. Now that’s a piece of past history worth keeping. The effect of me taking the action in that ceremony to walk through my fear is still rippling through my life. That was a Manik moment.

Mayan Daykeeper Men

The essence of Men, is fundamentally having the ability to envision, focus and manifest an abundant life in all aspects.

As humans we are always learning. One of the fundamental principles I have learned is that thoughts are electrical and emotions are magnetic. So if you wish to manifest a new home for example, and you envision it every day, while believing that what you want is impossible. Guess what the universe responds to? It responds magnetically to the belief of ‘it’s impossible’ as that’s where the emotion is. If you envision that home while feeling the happy emotions that will accompany manifesting that goal, the universe will again respond to those emotions and help you manifest it. I say help as you also need to take actions towards the goal. Action+intention=manifestation. Thought+emotion=manifestation

My manifestation 3 years ago. My magical cottage in the forest by the ocean, adorned with snow this last winter. I am happy & grateful.

THE MAYAN DAYKEEPERS

The Mayan Daykeepers are spiritual beings with an archetypal energy within cycles of the Tzol’Kin or Mayan astrology. There are 20 Daykeepers each one presenting different energies & assigned to be present on certain days of the year. Rotating in a twenty day cycle.

I have found that having an awareness of which Daykeeper is present on any particular day, informs me about the active energy present that day. In this way I have more ease, fluidity & healing in my journey.

Manik’s essence is the connections between actions in the now affecting the future. Every action we make has been influenced by the past & influences the future. Today is the first day after the British Columbia, Canada’s provincial election. All British Columbia’s women had the right to vote yesterday. However this was influenced by actions taken way back in our history. Until 1917, no women could vote. After that we could vote if we were not Indigenous Canadians, Japanese, Chinese, or South Asian. It wasn’t until 1960, that all Canadian women were allowed to vote. What impact will our votes from yesterday make on our future, we’ll see. I find it interesting that yesterday Kimi was present with the energy of death & rebirth, and today Manik brings us the connection of the past influencing the future.

So as you go about your day today, it may be interesting to look at your actions & their potential impact on the future.
